As a team we entered the new year understanding that being intentional is critical to our growth. With this comes not only goal setting, but evaluating our weakness and areas for improvement. During our annual meeting we touched on areas of importance including consistency and relationship building.
When given the opportunity to host a lunch tasting at Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar the initial plan was to offer the event complimentary to bloggers in exchange for posts about our products. But the 2019 goals checklist still had “relationship building” blaring at the top. It is easy to have people promote you when they are incentivized. We realized this opportunity would be more valuable if we actually sat down with likeminded individuals, told the story of our brand, exposed our struggles & fears and spoke out our manifestations to those who could keep us accountable. So was born the Aglow Partner Luncheon.
On January 5, 2019 we had an intimate but truly meaningful gathering with a handful of local creatives. Guests ranged from lifestyle bloggers, fashion designers, graphic designers, photographers & event planners. As each person introduced themselves and began to speak on their plans for the new year and obstacles they may face on the way, the room was filled with nods of understanding and agreement. There is one thing we all had in common: we may have visions larger than our resources but we also have passions larger than our fears.
Needless to say all of our guests have really great projects in the works and provided advice + gems that we can apply to Aglow for the new year and beyond. While some attendees came as good friends, others were complete strangers. Yet and still connections were made and everyone shared commonalities that we will all face on the entrepreneurial journey.
We feel confident that we are on the right path in terms of our focus on relationship building. Another step we are taking to connect with other creatives is simply introducing ourselves to brands we admire and making an effort to meet in person to learn more about what they do. We want to be able to advocate for our peers and vice versa. We hope you are encouraged to step out of your comfort zone and make new connections. You’d be surprised the amount of value you gain from a simple conversation with someone who is in a similar space! What actionable steps are you taking to make your 2019 priorities a reality?
